What is your favorite memory of being a classroom teacher?
One of my many favorite memories as a teacher happened while we were learning about many kinds of trees. That week we had been discussing maple trees and the process of using sap from the maple trees to make maple syrup. One day, one of the children looked at a tree nearby and yelled "sap! I see sap!". The children went over to the tree and were thrilled to see sap in real life. It was a beautiful moment where I got to watch my students make real connections from the classroom to the world around them. I'll never forget it!

What is your favorite memory of being a classroom teacher?
My favorite memory in the classroom had to do with Roxaboxen! My students loved the book and decided they wanted to create their own version of Roxaboxen in our classroom. We collected natural materials found objects and created our own mini Roxaboxen! They were so proud of their work, and we learned so much!

What is your favorite memory of being a classroom teacher?
One of my favorite memories from teaching was rescuing bugs like beetles, praying mantises, ants, and grasshoppers with my students. Together, we would find these little creatures on the playground and set them free in their natural habitats. It was a fun way to spark discussions about what these bugs eat and how they thrive in the wild!

I have many favorite memories however, the one I hold near and dear in my heart was the process of establishing and fostering a school family within the classroom and witnessing the effects on how children embodied respect for themselves and others.

What is your favorite memory of being a classroom teacher?
In the afternoon I enjoyed doing music with the class, from using the instruments, dancing around the classroom, and doing the Ants Go Marching and the marching band. It was a good hour of all of us dancing together. The parents were always surprised and super happy to see their children interacting.
